The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to face questions about the long-term outlook of their roster, and ESPN’s latest evaluation of the league’s young talent did little to quiet those concerns.
In their annual ranking of NFL teams based on players under the age of 25, the Steelers came in at No. 28 overall, dropping one spot from last year’s ranking of 27th. Even more concerning, ESPN did not identify a single “blue-chip” player on Pittsburgh’s roster among its under-25 talent.
The ranking places the Steelers
near the bottom of the league in young cornerstone talent, a notable criticism for a franchise that has spent the last several seasons attempting to rebuild its roster through the draft.
According to the graphic shared from the rankings, Pittsburgh also saw several key young players “graduate” from eligibility due to age, including offensive tackles Troy Fautanu and Broderick Jones, as well as center Zach Frazier. Their removal from the under-25 pool leaves the Steelers with fewer established young standouts in ESPN’s evaluation.
The lack of blue-chip recognition could spark debate among Steelers fans, particularly with players such as Joey Porter Jr., Mason McCormick, and several recent draft selections expected to take major steps forward in 2026. Pittsburgh has also invested heavily in building its offensive line through the draft, hoping that group can become the foundation of the franchise for years to come.
