As NFL cutdown day continues, another bigger named Seattle Seahawks veteran has been cut. Safety, D’Anthony Bell was notified on Sunday that he is being released
.This is not the most surprising move by the Seahawks considering
that Bell was on and off the 53-man roster last season. Additionally, as a vested veteran, Bell will not be subject to waivers and could theoretically sign to the practice squad right away. That is, of course, if he doesn’t choose to sign with another team.
Bell being released is also potentially a positive sign as to the health of Nick Emmanwori. As Emmanwori has been recovering from ankle surgery this training camp, Bell took over many of his snaps at the “big nickel” position. Bell being released does not guarantee that Emmanwori will be healthy enough for week one. However, if the Seahawks had any concern about Emmanwori’s health, it doesn’t make sense that they would potentially risk Bell leaving for another team if he were to get an opportunity elsewhere.
