After missing the entire preseason and the first game of the regular season, Collin Sexton is finally set to make his debut.
The Lakers’ injury report ahead of Friday’s game against the Clippers did not include Sexton, meaning the guard is cleared to play. In the team’s first injury report, Sexton was listed as questionable with a calf strain before being scratched hours before the game.
Jake LaRavia, who sprained his ankle during garbage time of the win over the Warriors, is listed as questionable.
With Sexton, Redick noting that there was no setback prior to Wednesday’s game seemed to indicate Sexton was very close to returning, which was confirmed with his availability on Friday.
As for LaRavia, Redick did not know about the severity of the injury following the game, but did express optimism that the injury wasn’t as bad as they initially feared.
By effectively swapping out LaRavia for Sexton, the Lakers will still have the same amount of bodies available for Friday’s game. There is also the chance LaRavia is actually ready to go for the game, still, which would be quite the turnaround after his initial reaction to the injury on Friday.
With Carr and Thiero, it does not sound like either is particularly close to returning. There hasn’t been a notable update on Carr, but Thiero is being shut down for multiple days with swelling in his knee.
The Clippers’ injury report is much longer with Bradley Beal, Brandon Ingram, Max Strus, Jordan Miller and Yanic Konan Niederhauser all out.
