Not long after John Cena retires from the ring, one of his greatest rivals returns to it…
Okay, “greatest” is too much of a hot take. But I’ve come to believe this match and the Triple Threat with the late,
great Umaga the next night on Raw to be low-key gems:
Anyway… WWE Hall of Famer* The Great Khali has been announced for his first official match since the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia almost seven years ago. He’ll be facing former WWE and AEW prospect Parker Boudreaux (briefly known as Harland in NXT, but mostly remembered as a “Brock Lesnar clone” coming out of college football). It’s happening in the Continental Wrestling Entertainment school/promotion Khali’s been affiliated with in India since 2015.
India is a key market for TKO, just as the world’s most populous country is for every other company on the planet. Khali’s continued to make promotional appearances for WWE there, including one that Cena was also involved in a couple years back. It seems unlikely that Khali’s return to the ring against Boudreaux would lead to anything with WWE, but the Hall of Famer did say he has one more match for WWE left, contractuall-speaking…
Who wants to see it?
* This was apparently one of many things I’ve blocked out from the pandemic years, but it happened.
