The Washington Commanders are preparing to host the New York Giants on Sunday. They had six players on their injury report yesterday, but that number lowered by one after today’s practice. Zach Ertz had a vet rest day yesterday, a common theme for the soon-to-be 35-year old tight end. K Matt Gay was listed with an illness yesterday, but was a full participant in both practices this week.
Three players were limited for a second day in a row. Dorance Armstrong is the top DE on the roster and has been
limited with a knee injury this week. CB Jonathan Jones is also dealing with a hamstring injury. WR Noah Brown suffered a knee injury in June, and continues to practice on a limited basis. He didn’t play in the preseason, but it sounds like he’s still on track to be available to start the season.
QB Marcus Mariota had another restricted offseason with the Commanders as he dealt with an injury. Achilles tendinitis was the issue this year, but he’s had two full practices in preparation for the Giants game. Washington kept a third QB on their initial 53-man roster(Josh Johnson), but Mariota is projected to be Jayden Daniels’ backup on Sunday. Mariota’s health in Week 1, could open up the roster for a possible WR addition(Kendrick Bourne), or other roster options.
