Hamza Abdelkarim is off to a good start in his Barcelona career as the 18-year-old striker scored twice in the Blaugrana’s preseason opener against Birmingham City on Friday.
The Egyptian joined Barça on a permanent deal from Al Ahly earlier this summer and has impressed Hansi Flick’s coaching staff so far in preseason, and was quite happy when speaking to the media after the game.
“It was incredible, of course. I’m very happy and I hope the team and I can continue working and improving with each game.
“We’re still a young team, so we’re getting to know each other better on the pitch and that’s building confidence throughout the team. I hope there’s more to come.”
Hamza showed some pretty good glimpses of his potential with his link-up play and sharp finishing touch, scoring a great penalty in the first half and a proper poacher’s goal on a rebound for his second strike.
It’s an excellent start to Hamza’s Blaugrana career, and Barça fans will be hoping there’s more to come from a clearly promising youngster.
