Syracuse is continuing to keep their season alive as we come to the final few games of the season, with the season ending on September 20th. The win keeps them 1.5 games back of first place Rochester, who won their game as well.
Jefferson Rojas was far and away the star of the show. He homered for the second time in two games at the Triple-A level, providing serious firepower for the stretch run (and also, undoubtedly, putting himself on the 2027 map like Carson Benge
and AJ Ewing before him). Rojas’s home run put them up 4-1 in the second, and they looked well on their way to a win. Jonathan Santucci, however, could not keep the lead safe, surrendering four runs (three earned), leaving the game tied at four in the sixth. Ryan Clifford, who struggled this year, had a feel good moment, homering to make it 5-4 in the bottom of the sixth. The Mets pen would hold that skinny lead, keeping their season alive.
