The New York Jets got another nice return to open up the second half to help their offense start at their own 43-yard line. A near sack by the Denver Broncos on first down ended up with a Justin Fields
escape and scramble for seven yards to midfield. They would pick up the first down on the next play.
That would setup a catch inside by Josh Reynolds who would get the Jets into field goal range. There the drive would predictable stall and the Jets were forced to settle for a field goal.
Broncos 10, Jets 9.
The Broncos offense came out and immediately laid an egg with a three-and-out to give the ball right back the Jets. A poor punt set the Jets up at their own 41-yard line with excellent field position yet again. The Broncos defense woke back up, though, and ended up forcing the Jets to punt it away anyway.
The punt was downed at the three yard line. Bo Nix was pressured in the end zone, where he threw it dangerously off his back foot to Troy Franklin. It looked like Franklin was held, but they called offensive pass interference on him. However, a holding call in the end zone by Quinn Meinerz resulted in a safety for the Jets.
Jets 11, Broncos 10.
Fortunately, the Broncos defense was still playing football. They would force a three-and-out to get Denver’s offense another chance to get things going. They would do nothing and even hand it off on third and nine rather than attempt to get a first down.
The third quarter would end with the Jets getting a pass to Garett Wilson who then fumbled with the Broncos defense recovering the ball. Somehow, the review overturned the call. Another bad break for Denver heading into the fourth quarter down 11-10 to the Jets.
