For a club like Bayern Munich, expectations are always sky-high.
Winning the Bundesliga, competing deep into the UEFA Champions League, and maintaining domestic dominance is simply part of the job description. Looking ahead to next season, though, presents a legitimate question worth asking — could Bayern Munich actually be better than they are right now?
There are a few reasons to believe the answer could be yes.
Health could play a major role. Bayern has battled a steady stream of injuries over the
past two seasons, particularly to key players like Jamal Musiala, Hiroki Itō, and Alphonso Davies. When those players are fully fit, Bayern Munich’s lineup looks significantly more dangerous. Musiala’s creativity between the lines, Davies’ explosiveness on the left flank, and Itō’s steady play on defense are all difference-makers. If Bayern Munich can finally enjoy a relatively healthy campaign, the overall level of the squad could rise considerably.
The younger core of the team continues to develop. Players like Musiala, Aleksandar Pavlović, and Jamal Musiala’s fellow attacking talents are still improving. Pavlović, in particular, has emerged as a key midfield presence with his composure on the ball and tactical awareness. If his growth continues, Bayern Munich could have a long-term midfield anchor capable of controlling matches at the highest level.
Bayern Munich’s attack should remain one of the most potent in Europe as long as Harry Kane is leading the line (and Kane is expected to ink a new deal in the coming weeks). Kane’s goal-scoring consistency has given Bayern Munich a reliable focal point in attack, something the club had been searching for since the departure of Robert Lewandowski. With creative players around him and another year of chemistry with his teammates, the English striker could make an already dangerous attack even more efficient.
Of course, improvement is never guaranteed. Bayern Munich’s rivals in Germany and across Europe are constantly strengthening, and maintaining dominance requires constant evolution. Squad depth, tactical adjustments, and transfer market decisions will all influence whether Bayern Munich takes another step forward.
Still, the ingredients for improvement are there: a world-class striker, a young core entering its prime, and key players who could return to full health.
The real question might be whether everything comes together at the same time.
Song of the Midweek: “One Armed Scissor” by At The Drive In
Back in 2000, the music scene was morphing — nu metal was on the rise, alt rock was strong, grunge was fading, metal was there, but a new version of hard rock was forming. There was also emo and hardcore on the fringes, but start to gain momentum.
It was a wild time to say the least.
Many bands came in hard and went out just as fast, so even those with great songs would sometimes get lost in the shuffle. For At the Drive In, there was a brief moment that gave us this sone (which stuck into my mind…do any of you remember it?). Enjoy:
