Even after another season competing for major trophies, Bayern Munich still enters the summer with several question marks throughout the squad. The talent level is undeniable, but if the club wants to truly re-establish itself as the favorite to win the Champions League, some position groups clearly need more attention than others.
One concern could be the center-back position. Injuries, inconsistency, and depth issues are legitimate at Bayern Munich. Dayot Upamecano can look world-class one week,
but has had some untimely issues as well. Jonathan Tah seemed to wear down over the course of the season, and Kim Min-jae struggled with decision-making and being under pressure at times. If the club does not add another reliable center-back this summer, it is fair to wonder whether the same problems will repeat themselves next season.
Another area that could worry fans is central midfield. Bayern has talented players, but the balance still feels incomplete. Aleksandar Pavlović showed enormous promise, but expecting him to carry the midfield every week at his age could be risky. Joshua Kimmich continues to divide the fanbase and the squad still lacks a true dominant defensive midfielder capable of controlling transitions against top-level opponents. Against teams like Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid, Bayern Munich’s midfield can still look vulnerable defensively.
Right-back is another sneaky concern. Konrad Laimer gives maximum effort and versatility, but he is not a natural long-term solution there. Injuries and inconsistency have prevented Bayern Munich from locking down the position for years, and it remains unclear whether the club sees it as a true priority.
The attack is the least concerning group despite all the transfer rumors. Harry Kane remains elite, Michael Olise looks like a star, and Luis Díaz has been terrific in his first season in Bavaria.
With that in mind, which position group worries you the most heading into next season — defense, midfield, full-back depth, or something else entirely?
