The Golden State Warriors got back to their winning ways on Monday night, besting the Memphis Grizzlies 131-118 to improve to 3-1 on the year. It was an exciting game, which featured yet another breakout
performance from Jonathan Kuminga, and a brilliant showing courtesy of Moses Moody, along with the standard heroics of Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler III, and Draymond Green.
As tends to be the case on Mondays, it was a pretty quiet day watching the game on Golden State of Mind, but the community still had some things to say. So here’s a look at the live reacts to the game, as seen through comments on our game thread.
First quarter: ‘Bench is underwhelming’
The Warriors returned to their small starting lineup for this one, and it paid immediate dividends. They were up 7-0 just 69 seconds in, and had 25 points at the halfway mark of the quarter. But the offense went ice cold when the subs came in, and the Grizzlies roared back to take the lead. Memphis led 37-36 at the end of the quarter.
Second quarter: ‘Good plays on D by Post!’
The second quarter was where it got fun, as the teams went back and forth and back again. It got very physical, but still clean, while Kuminga, Gui Santos, and Will Richard made big plays. The Dubs led 65-61 at the break.
Third quarter: ‘Podz has found his shot’
The third quarter was where the Warriors made their mark, quickly jumping out to a double-digit lead. Moody couldn’t miss, Brandin Podziemski had hug shots, and the Dubs pushed the lead into the 20s before settling for a 101-85 advantage going into the final frame.
Fourth quarter: ‘Great win!’
The Warriors cruised through the fourth, and it never got close. Steve Kerr found a lot of rest for his older veterans, while Kuminga ensured that Memphis wouldn’t get close.
