International goalkeeper of mystery Gabriel “Gaga” Slonina is expected to be leaving Chelsea this summer, but he may not be going very far (at least logistically speaking). According to multiple reports, the 22-year-old may be the latest Chelsea goalkeeper to make the switch, at least temporarily, to RC Strasbourg, following in the footsteps of Đorđe Petrović and Mike Penders.
It’s not exactly clear what sort of deal we might be actually looking at here, be it a loan, a transfer, or some other arrangement
within the confines of the BlueCo multi-club family. As per L’Equipe, Slonina is now on trial at Strasbourg, and looking to catch the eye of their new head coach, Hugo Oliveira. (New man Oliveira replaced Gary O’Neil, who has gone to Ipswich Town just six months after coming in to pick up the pieces from the Chelsea-bound Liam Rosenior.)
The report mentions that should Slonina fail to impress, another option for RCSA might be Filip Jörgensen; though in the case, that would surely mean the end of the road for Gaga in the BlueCo system. For Chelsea, the plan right now appears to be to stay with Robert Sánchez and young Mike Penders, though speculation about FC Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa is easy to find out there in the ether.
