The Arizona Cardinals may – or may not – need another pass rusher opposite EDGE rusher Josh Sweat. Looking at the free agent list of available pass rushers, Jadeveon Clowney remained unsigned. There was a recent buzz about Clowney going to an NFC West club. He also worked out for the Cleveland Browns recently.
However, Clowney signed with the Houston Texans.

Clowney, age 33, was drafted by Houston back in 2014 as the first overall pick. He played for
the Texans for five seasons. And now, he is going back to the team that brought him into the league.
It has been mentioned that the Cardinals might need another pass rusher.
Darius Robinson was taken in the first round a few years ago to become the pass rusher on that left side. Zaven Collins has become the main guy on that side with Baron Browning as his backup. Both players have been given a good number of snaps.
Is this enough? Are these players taking care of the opposite side’s pass rush? Clowney was looked at as a possible answer and was available. He had a bit of a resurgence as a pass rusher, which would have helped. Clowney has compiled 24.5 sacks in the past three seasons.
He signed a one-year deal with Houston. Exact financial terms of the contract were not immediately disclosed. He lives in Houston in the offseason, so it makes sense.
During Clowney’s five seasons with the Texans, he was a three-time Pro Bowler and earned a second-team All-Pro nod. After leaving Houston after the 2018 season, he has played with six other NFL clubs, including the Dallas Cowboys last year. Clowney has 66.5 career sacks with career earnings of $100,507,718.
