CFB’s cluttered calendar.
Ross Delinger says there may be some changes to college football’s packed winter calendar. Currently, bowl/playoff games, signing day, coaching changes, and the transfer portal basically all occur around the same time. The NCAA Football Oversight Committee is expected to recommend some calendar changes, as soon as this spring. They are considering eliminating the early signing period, starting the season with Week 0, putting CFP semifinals back on New Year’s Day, moving the transfer portal to the spring, and having a summer training period. Each potential change has its pros and cons.
CFP disappointing teams.
Bill Connelly takes a look back at the 2025 season and creates a list of the most disappointing teams. He has Boise State at #9 based on average QB play and big losses to good SP+ teams. He states they were good for the Mountain West, but exposed against better competition. Colorado State also makes the list at 27th due to a 180 the wrong way following a bowl season, bad QB play, and ultimately the firing of their head coach. He cites it was their worst SP+ season since going winless in 1981.
MBB Rankings
As conference play keeps going, the rankings take on a bit more meaning. Utah State remains in the top spot, but Nevada jumps all the way to second. Likewise, San Diego State jumps up two spots to third, while Boise State remains at #4. New Mexico and Colorado State both see dips, then Grand Canyon and Wyoming switch places, as do Fresno State and Wyoming. Don’t worry, San Jose State and Air Force maintain their positions at the bottom.
