The Cincinnati Reds need the real Nick Lodolo now more than ever.
Short outings from starters over the last three games have left the bullpen to absorb a metric %@$& ton of pitches, and the bullpen has been rife with foibles for far too long. The pitching staff needs someone, anyone other than Chase Burns to take the ball and be dominant, and Lodolo’s the one other starter currently on the staff who’s truly got that combination of upside and proven ability to do just that.
He’ll get the chance again
on Monday night in his third start of the season, this time on the road in Philadelphia against a surging Phillies club.
Right-hander Andrew Painter gets the start for the Phillies, with first pitch slated for 6:40 PM ET.
