Newcastle United’s summer has already been shaped by a tough sale in that of Anthony Gordon, and now one involving another XI player in Sandro Tonali seems to be on the verge of happening, with the Spurs bidding £100 million for the Italy international.
What Newcastle might not have entered the offseason expecting, however, was facing the sale of captain and Brazil international Bruno Guimaraes, who now looks like the third starter on his way out of Tyneside as part of the 2026 Summer Exodus.
According
to Football365’s Lewis Oldham, Arsenal are set to submit an improved offer for Bruno Guimaraes after having already made their first move for him earlier this week.
The original report comes from TEAMtalk, which first revealed Arsenal is now set to place a £80 million bid on Bruno and formally present it to Newcastle in the next few hours.
“Reports suggesting Arsenal have already submitted an offer worth less than £60million have been firmly dismissed by Newcastle sources,” Graeme Bailey wrote. “However, Arsenal are now working towards making an offer in the region of £80million. Whether that will be enough is another matter entirely.”
According to Football365, however, Arsenal now “have received a ‘green light’ over a deal” for Bruno, with the negotiations or, at the very least, the offer set to hit NUFC’s headquarters shortly.
Newcastle remain adamant that they do not want to sell Guimaraes, and the club are refusing to place a public valuation on one of Howe’s most influential players and a bona fide Newcastle legend, given his stint and accolades in Tyneside.
If Gordon, Tonali, and Bruno depart for the fees confirmed or leaked by the media, Newcastle might raise £250 million with those three sales alone, and perhaps even more throughout the summer transfer window, considering the possible exits of Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall, as well as that of Harvey Barnes.
