His last match was a multi-man Lights Out Steel Cage affair at Forbidden Door almost six months ago in his hometown of London. He already needed neck surgery heading into that career-shortener. Surgeons successfully operated on Will Ospreay a month later, and he hinted afterwards he’d be out for a “long” while… which he better be. It’s friggin’ neck surgery.
Speculation about a possible January return was dismissed, but Ospreay did fly to Japan for a few appearances on NJPW’s year-opening events.
Bruv reminded us he still had a ways to go while teasing a return to the ring when next he worked a New Japan show. Then it was reported he was backstage at Jan. 21’s Dynamite to start the medical clearance process.
Last night (Feb. 4) on Dynamite, AEW reminded us about Ospreay’s surgery, and the commitment to the promotion and its fans he re-affirmed before hand. That took us to a training montage before closing on the steely gaze you see above.
Seems like the kind of thing you put on your programming about a month or two before a big babyface return, right?
Let us know when you think Bruv will be back, and what he’ll do when he gets back. You can do that in the comments that are below the rest of AEW’s highlights from Dynamite:
