It’s February 10th and for the first time in a while, Mizzou Basketball is squarely on the bubble. Sam Snelling notes from his pour over following the latest win over South Carolina that it’s the first time since 2011.
The last time Mizzou was a true bubble team was probably 2011.
If you’re a 9 seed you’re not really on the bubble, and of the Tigers 6 tournament appearances since 2011 they’ve been a 9 seed or higher.
With eight games remaining in the regular season, Missouri sits at 16-7 overall and 6-4 in SEC – which builds a reasonable path for the Tigers to make back-to-back NCAA Tournaments for the first time since 2012-2013.
Respectfully, Mizzou currently sits at No. 61 in the latest NET rankings and No. 52 on KenPom. The Tigers are 2-4 in Quad 1 games and 3-3 in Quad 2 games — barely good enough to be on the right side of the bubble in some projections.
ESPN’s Joe Lunardi currently has Mizzou as the one of the First Four Out.
Meanwhile, Bracketeer’s Rocco Miller believes Mizzou needs to go .500 the rest of the way.
Continuing to take care of business at home and notching at least one more road win might be enough to do the trick.
In our latest SBN Reacts survey, we ask you this: What minimum record does Mizzou Basketball need down the stretch in order to make the NCAA Tournament?
