If you’re up for some summer fun, several members of the Seattle Seahawks are gonna trade the gridiron for the diamond.
It’s been announced that outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu and wide receiver Rashid Shaheed will co-host the fifth annual annual Seattle All-Star Classic and home run derby at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma.
“Anytime you can use your platform to bring people together and support the community, it’s meaningful,” said Nwosu (via the official press release). “I’m proud to help host this year
and be part of something bigger than the game.”
“I’ve heard a lot about the energy around this event, and I’m ready to experience it firsthand,” said Rashid Shaheed. “It’s going to be a fun, competitive matchup, and I’m looking forward to getting out there and putting on a show for the fans.”
Confirmed Seahawks participants include linebacker Tyrice Knight and tight end Elijah Arroyo. The full rosters (which will include non-Seahawks players and local celebrities) will be announced in the coming weeks, with tickets on pre-sale May 26 before full public release on June 3.
This is designed to be a family-friendly event complete with vendors, live music, a children’s play area, and a beer and wine garden (this part is just adult-friendly, of course). The inaugural edition of the Seattle All-Star Classic was in 2022, and the likes of Geno Smith, DK Metcalf, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Kam Chancellor are among the past and presents Seahawks who have participated.
As ever, these events are an opportunity to bring people together and highlight local nonprofits looking to make a big difference in the community. From the press release:
In 2026, SASC is continuing its Filling the Gap community initiative that highlights five South Sound nonprofits addressing inequities in education, youth sports, academic excellence, economic opportunity, and food or family insecurity. Local employers can participate as official sponsors, supporting those local nonprofits alongside professional athletes and celebrities. The event will also continue its “Salute to Service” program, allowing businesses to sponsor service members, veterans, and their families to attend the 2026 event.
Any chance we see Grey Zabel out there pitching against his Seahawks teammates?
