Fermin Lopez reiterated his commitment to Barcelona after scoring a brace in Sunday’s 6-0 win over Valencia in La Liga.
The youngster was wanted by Chelsea in the summer transfer window but turned down a move to Stamford Bridge and says he’s exactly where he wants to be.
“I never doubted being here. I’ve always wanted to be here, and I’ll fight to be here for many years to come,” he told the medifa.
“There was always speculation. All of that is part of football. I was very calm, and I’m very happy to
be here.”
The win sees Barca bounce back from a disappointing draw to Rayo before the international break, and Lopez says Hansi Flick’s side must continue in the same vein.
“It was a tough match at the start. The score reflects the level we were at,” he added. “I get along very well with Ferri, and he’s given me excellent support to help the team.
“The message is the same as last year: to move forward with intensity and humility. We’re on the right path and we must continue like this.”
Barcelona now turn their attentions to the Champions League and a trip to Newcastle on Thursday.
