Kentucky has the opportunity this season to have one of the most versatile and deepest rosters in college basketball.
With an All-American talent in Otega Oweh, combined with a great transfer portal class
and recruiting class, Kentucky may have one of the most talented rosters in the country.
ESPN’s Jay Bilas recently unveiled his three All-American teams, along with his All-Defensive and All-Freshman Teams. Otega Oweh is on his Second-Team All-American list, while Mohamed Dioubate is on his All-Defensive Team.
Below are all of the players who made up those two teams.
Second Team All-Americans
- AJ Dybantsa (BYU)
- Darryn Peterson (Kansas)
- Cameron Boozer (Duke)
- Otega Oweh (Kentucky)
- Nate Ament (Tennessee)
All-Defensive Team
- Joseph Tugler (Houston)
- Tamin Lipsey (Iowa State)
- Miles Byrd (San Diego State)
- Mo Dioubate (Kentucky)
- Maliq Brown (Duke)
The selection comes on the heels of Oweh being named a Second-Team All-American by CBS Sports. This is the first preseason honor of any kind for Dioubate.
Oweh, Dioubate and the Wildcats will get their first opportunity to play a game Friday night when they host No. 1 Purdue in an Exhibition game at Rupp Arena. Bilas has two All-Americans from the Boilermakers: Braden Smith (First-Team) and Trey Kaufman-Renn (Third Team).
Friday’s game will tip off at 6:00 PM ET on the SEC Network.
