Valter Walker made heavyweight history at UFC 321 last weekend in Abu Dhabi, securing his fourth straight heel hook submission finish — all within the first round — by tapping PFL veteran Louie Sutherland
on the “Prelims” portion of the “Aspinall vs. Gane” lineup.
And he did it with a broken leg, snapping his fibula via Sutherland leg kick in the opening frame.
“I was going to keep it a secret guys if you watched the live [stream] today I was in a bad mood as my leg is in too much pain but they asked me to reveal it,” Walker wrote on Instagram. “There is 5-6 weeks of heavy recovery, the first week is the hardest, but [I’m] telling you it’s worth it, a life worth living.”
Don’t expect Walker (15-1) to return until early-to-mid 2026, where he’ll try for six feet in Brazil.
The 27 year-old Walker won a $50,000 performance bonus for submitting Sutherland and has now captured four in a row. His performance was good enough to move the Brazilian one spot in the official heavyweight rankings (see them here) and is likely to earn Walker a Top 10 opponent.
