The Philadelphia Eagles issued their second official injury report of the week on Thursday in advance of their Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Rams.
The Eagles listed five players under DID NOT PARTICIPATE: DeVonta Smith, Zack Baun, Dallas Goedert, Hollywood Brown, and Fred Johnson.
Smitty missed practice for the second day in a row due his hamstring injury. The latest reporting suggests that he is “legitimately questionable” to play on Sunday. We’ll see if he’s able to practice at all on Friday.
If not, the Eagles will be without their top receiver against a tough opponent. Not great.
Baun has yet to reach a point in the concussion protocol where he can practice. Seems like he’s going to run out of time to be cleared to play in Sunday’s game. If Baun isn’t permitted to play, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. figures to start next to Jihaad Campbell. This will be the third career start for Trot Jr. It would also be Baun’s first missed game with the Eagles due to non-rest reasons.
The knee injury that Goedert suffered in Week 2 was always expected to cause him to miss multiple games. The Eagles will roll with Zach Ertz (increased workload coming?), Johnny Mundt, and E.J. Jenkins as their three tight ends for the second game in a row.
Brown hasn’t practiced since apparently picking up an ankle injury in practice last week. Especially a shame since the Eagles could use him healthy if DeVonta can’t play.
Johnson hasn’t practiced since apparently picking up a knee injury in practice last week. Rookie Markel Bell will serve as the Eagles’ swing tackle.
The Eagles listed four players under LIMITED PARTICIPATION: Marcus Epps, Moro Ojomo, Jordan Davis, and Will Shipley.
Epps is a new addition to the report with a groin injury. If he can’t play, the Eagles have just two healthy full-time safeties on the roster: Andrew Mukuba and Michael Carter II (who is a converted nickel corner). The Eagles have been using Cooper DeJean at safety in base packages and it seems like Kenny Moore II could factor in on the back end, even though he lacks experience in that capacity. The Eagles’ only practice squad safety is rookie Cole Wisniewski. They previously also had Maximus Pulley … who signed to the Rams’ roster last week.
Ojomo and Davis were limited for the second day in a row. We’ll see if they’re able to go full on Friday.
Shipley was upgraded from DNP to limited. He has a shot to play.
The Eagles listed six players under FULL PARTICIPATION: Jihaad Campbell, Jonathan Greenard, Jalen Carter, Darius Cooper, Tank Bigsby, and Byron Young.
Campbell was upgraded from limited to full. He’s good to go.
Greenard, Carter, Cooper, Bigsby, and Young were all listed as full go for the second day in a row.
