TCU football is moving closer to its 2026 season opener against North Carolina in Dublin, Ireland on Aug. 29. As the Countdown to Kickoff continues, we’ll highlight a former Horned Frog whose jersey number coincided with the number of days remaining until the opener. At No. 19 is former TCU tight end Jared Wiley!
After transferring in from Texas, Wiley found his role right away. The 6-foot-7, 260-pounder was named an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention after catching 24 passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns
during the 2022 season. His 24 receptions were more than the number he made over his previous three years at Texas combined. With Wiley’s help, TCU went 13-2, made the Big 12 title game and defeated Michigan in the Fiesta Bowl.
In 2023, his fifth and final season of college football, Wiley ascended to All-Big 12 First Team status after reeling in a career-high 47 catches for 520 yards and eight touchdowns. His receiving yards and receiving touchdowns that season were also career highs. Wiley, who was a team captain in 2023, went to the Kansas City Chiefs with the 131st overall pick in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Since then, Wiley has played in 12 games and made two starts, catching two passes for 11 yards. He missed most of the 2024 season to a torn ACL.
Wiley played in 59 games over his five years in college. His time at Texas included 32 appearances, 19 catches and three receiving touchdowns. He’ll be gearing up for his third season with the Chiefs this fall.
