After yet another in-season break, your Kansas State Wildcats return to the field today to begin the final stretch of the season.
It’s been a particularly rough 2025 for the Wildcats. Between player injuries,
a tough transition in scheme on offense, and all the scheduling quirks associated with the opening trip to Ireland, things have certainly not gone to plan this season. The Cats sit at just 4-5 overall and 3-3 in Big 12 play, and with just three games remaining in the regular season, it’s imperative that the Wildcats pick up at least two wins to earn bowl elegibility.
Thankfully, getting those two wins should be easier than normal, starting with todays game in Stillwater. The Oklahoma State Cowboys have by all measures awful this season. They are just 1-8, 0-6 in Big 12 play, and their lone win came in the opener against FCS foe UT Martin. Longtime head coach Mike Gundy was fired following an historically embarrassing home loss to in-state rival Tulsa, but the coaching change didn’t spark any sort of revival in north-central Oklahoma.
The Pokes best result came just two weeks ago, ahead of their own bye week last week, where they actually put a scare in Kansas in Lawrence before ultimately falling 31-28. So while this game should be an easy win for the Wildcats, they can’t afford to approach this game with anything less than 100% effort and determination.
K-State hasn’t won in Stillwater since Bill Snyder was head coach, a 45-40 barn-burner in 2017 when Byron Pringle went HAM for three receiving touchdowns and a kickoff return for a score. Hopefully it’s time for another Cat to go wild on the way to a Wildcat victory.
We’ve got an 11:00am CT kickoff from Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, and you can catch the action on ESPNU (or online at ESPN.com) with Richard Cross (Play-by-Play) and Charles Arbuckle (Analyst) on the call.
If you don’t have ESPNU (and YouTubeTV should have it again) or can’t access the stream, the game can be heard across the 28-station K-State Sports Network with Wyatt Thompson (play-by-play), former K-State quarterback Stan Weber (analyst), and Matt Walters (sidelines) calling the action. The game will also be on SiriusXM Satellite Radio Ch. 382, and available online at K-Statesports.com. Live stats are also available at k-statesports.com, and social media updates (@KStateFB) will also be a part of the coverage.
Go Cats!
