- Well that was unpleasant. And ugly.
- Positives?
- Joc Pederson homered and walked twice.
- Corey Seager, just activated off the injured list, had a single and a double.
- The only reliever used was Luis Curvelo, who probably gets sent down now so Chris Martin can be activated, and Nicky Lopez, who is not a pitcher. That means everyone else in the pen is fully rested for the final two games of the weekend.
- That’s about it.
- Curvelo threw 54 pitches in all, having to wear it in a seventh inning that saw him retire the first two batters before allowing four runs to score. He was brought up for the purpose of handling some innings to save the rest of the bullpen, and he did that, I guess.
- The Rangers are back in second place, a half game back of the Astros, as a result of the loss. The Astros have also clinched the season series, which means Houston has the tiebreaker advantage if the teams end the season with the same record.
- And perhaps worst of all, the Rangers lost the Silver Boot.
- This is one of those games where I don’t really have much to say. The Rangers got kicked in the teeth, and will now have to bounce back.
- Nathan Eovaldi’s fastball topped out at 95.7 mph, averaging 93.6 mph. Luis Curvelo hit 97.3 mph with his fastball. Nicky Lopez’s fastball hit 83.4 mph, averaging 62.8 mph.
- Corey Seager had a 106.9 mph double. Joc Pederson had a 105.3 mph home run Wyatt Langford had a 103.0 mph fly out. Evan Carter had a 101.2 mph single.
