Former WWE NXT and AEW Tag Team champion Keith Lee has been out of action for so long, his name doesn’t even come up when fans are bandying about surprise returns (as of June, Lee was still under AEW contract).
But he re-entered the online conversation yesterday (Sept. 10) when he posted this on social media:
The tagged “Darius J. Wright” is someone who hasn’t posted on X/Twitter in 14 years. The linked “Darius J. Wright” is a “a consciousness
explorer known for fully conscious out of body experiences and direct investigation of non physical reality. His work presents a practical framework for understanding consciousness, life after death, and the deeper structure of existence.” Since 2023, the Darius J. Wright pictured with Lee claims to have his used his “AYDA (Awaken Your Dormant Abilities) Method” to reach millions online, and amass “a growing body of verified firsthand testimonies.”
Much of Wright’s work seems to focus on the “life after death” piece, and many of the interviews with him posted online focus on near death experiences. Lee shared in 2021 that a lengthy WWE layoff was due to heart inflammation discovered after a case of COVID, and that could have killed him had he wrestled without getting treatment. Last year, Lee indicated he was “good to go”, but the impact his health issues may have had on his career is one reason fans are worried about the big man attaching himself to someone like Wright.
This has mostly taken the form of worrying that Lee has joined “a cult”, a not-completely-unreasonable assumption for someone to make after spending time on Wright’s website and social media. Some of that has been expressed in humorous or alarmist ways, with people tagging AEW’s Tony Khan or Lee’s ex-wife Mia “Michin” Yim asking them to intervene. Others have acknowledged that one photo doesn’t tell us everything, and have offered Lee counsel with less strings attached than Wright’s “Great Work”:
While also acknowledging that we only have whatever small glimpses into their lives that they allow us, it does appear Lee’s been through major health issues that may still be impacting his ability to work and had a marriage dissolve in the last few years. That’s enough to send anyone looking for answers and direction.
Let’s just hope that Keith Lee is pursuing those things with an open mind and a closed wallet, and can find some peace without being taken advantage of.
