Rumors are running rampant, trades are happening around the league, teams are making decisions on contract options, free agents are gearing up to negotiate with teams. We’re fully emersed in the offseason now.
Free agency officially begins at 6:00 PM EST today, but you can expect news and trades and rumors to continue throughout the day. So I wanted to provide you with a place to discuss on the front page.
Personally, I’m about as confused as I have been since the beginning of the Brad Stevens GM era.
Normally he works in silence, and maybe he still is, but there’s a whole lot of noise surrounding the team this time.
It is important to note that rumors come in all shapes and sizes. Some are legit, sourced information, but even those have to be weighed under the scrutiny of “who does this benefit?” Some are just speculation from people who have more access to this stuff than you or I. And some of it is just garbage thrown up against the wall for clicks and eyeballs. Parsing through it all is hard, but we’re doing the best we can here.
There’s a lot we don’t know. What mandates is he under from ownership (if any)? How much is the 2nd apron impacting the decision making process? What conclusions have they made about the style of basketball that they want to play and what does that specifically mean in regard to Jaylen Brown? In short, what’s the vision?
We probably won’t know until we see the moves play out. But when all is said and done, I want to hear some answers to all these questions. Both from Brad Stevens and ownership.
So struggle through the process with us in the comments below. It should be another interesting day. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing, but here we go.
