The Cleveland Browns head coach search continues with second interviews scheduled for this week. So far, John Harbaugh interviewed with only the New York Giants before taking their job, former Browns HC Kevin Stefanski had numerous interviews before accepting the Atlanta Falcons gig, and Monday night saw the Miami Dolphins (Jeff Hafley) and Tennessee Titans (Robert Saleh) secure their new head coaches
.Sean McDermott joined the unemployed ranks with the Buffalo Bills now looking for a coach, which
led us down memory lane with the Hue Jackson hire years ago.
Six teams are still looking to fill their head coaching vacancies:
- Cleveland Browns
- Arizona Cardinals
- Baltimore Ravens
- Buffalo Bills
- Las Vegas Raiders
- Pittsburgh Steelers
According to Mary Kay Cabot, the Browns second interview schedule is as follows:
- Monday – Jim Schwartz – Confirmed by team
- Tuesday – Todd Monken
- Wednesday – Mike McDaniel
- Thursday and/or Friday – Grant Udinski, Jesse Minter
- Next week – Nate Scheelhaase
Cleveland is unable to hire their new head coach until it fulfills the Rooney Rule. McDaniel’s in-person interview will complete half of the process, with Scheelhaase the only other known candidate who would fulfill the rule.
Based on the start of the week, it is likely that Udinski and Minter will interview on separate days, giving the Browns decision makers as much time as possible to meet with the candidate and debrief with each other after.
