The list of injured Eagles players continues to grow, and things are getting particularly dicey up front with the offensive line. It was reported Monday night that former center turned left guard Cam Jurgens self-reported concussion symptoms earlier in the day, and is now in the protocol, according to NFL insider Mike Garafolo.
Sunday’s game against the Rams really highlighted what a bad position the Eagles are in with their OL depth, and Jurgens being sidelined only adds to the issue. The new left
guard stepped into Landon Dickerson’s spot when the original LG went to IR after Week 1, but Jurgens really struggled in his new role. Head coach Nick Sirianni was asked on Monday if they had considered benching Jurgens, but he publicly stated he was pleased with Jurgens.
Heading into training camp, the Eagles offensive line was Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen, and Lane Johnson. Heading into their Week 4 game against the Rams, the starting OL was Jordan Mailata, Cam Jurgens, Drew Kendall, Tyler Steen, and Markel Bell.
Lane Johnson missed Sunday’s game due to personal reasons, and Fred Johnson was inactive due to injury. Drew Kendall went into the medical tent at one point during the game, but was thankfully able to return and finish the game, but there’s a chance he’s not fully healthy either.
Heading into the week the team had just Willie Lampkin and Micah Morris as active backups, and they’ll have to turn to one of them to replace Jurgens if he’s unable to travel to London.
