Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou Football
The SEC Wednesday night injury report was released heading into Saturday’s top-15 matchup between No. 13 Mizzou at No. 9 Ole Miss, and it’s jam-packed.
On Missouri’s side, currently 11 players are listed as “Questionable” — headlined by the SEC’s leading receiver Cayden Lee. Austin Simmons, however, is listed as “Probable.”
Meanwhile, Ole Miss has eight players listed as “OUT”. That includes wide receiver and O’Fallon, MO native Izaiah Hartrup.
We’ll see what
to make of these injuries as the week goes on. For now, here’s the full report:

- Morning Commute from Jaden Lewis: Mizzou Gymnastics releases its 2027 schedule
SEC play for the Tigers begins at home at Mizzou Arena, where they will host Georgia, who was ranked no. 6 nationally at season’s end. MU will also travel to the Dallas-Fort Worth area with the Bulldogs, NC State, and Oklahoma for the Metroplex Challenge in early February. This, along with the Zou to the Lou event, will be held on a podium (raised surface). The full release for the schedule is here.
Should be a fun upcoming year for Shannon Welker’s squad! Mizzou Gymnastics is primed for another big season.
- From Audrey Walker: Mizzou Women’s Golf takes third place at Illini Women’s Invitational
“We started off really well today and then we had our bad holes towards the end of the round and couldn’t really quite finish the way we wanted to,” Mizzou head coach Caroline Westrup Gaeta said.
A good showing for Mizzou Women’s golf.
- From Nate Edwards: Ole Miss Rebels Preview
Eli Drinkwitz has never played against Ole Miss as Missouri’s coach, but he is 10-18 on the road, 9-24 against teams ranked higher in SP+, 8-20 against ranked teams, 1-12 against teams that finish ranked in the Top 10 of SP+, but is an even 6-6 in games that kick off at 2:30p central. So it’s not all bad!
Just win, baby!
- From Nathan Hurst: Two down, can Drinkwitz shred the big road win monkey next?
Beating Florida at home was a statement and finally getting past Texas A&M was a breakthrough of sorts. Beating a top-10 Ole Miss team in Oxford would be something else entirely. It would be proof that Mizzou can carry its best football into someone else’s stadium and beat a really good team on its own turf.
A road win at Ole Miss would make Mizzou a legitimate playoff contender. Drinkwitz needs another breakthrough win.

- From Audrey Walker: Mizzou Men’s Golf takes fifth at Bryson Invitational
Mizzou took advantage of the par 5s in the third round – as a team, the Tigers shot one eagle, nine birdies, nine pars, and one bogey. On average, they shot 10 strokes under par on the par 5s alone, helping them achieve their lowest round of the tournament.
A major improvement from Mizzou Men’s Golf after finishing 14th out of 15th in their last tournament.
- From Sophie Silvers: Mizzou Volleyball Dominates Mississippi State in Straight Sets 3-0
“I thought we were really, really relentless defensively, and got after it on our offense,” head coach Dawn Sullivan said post-game. “What a good cause to come out here and play for, just bring some awareness to so many people that struggle with cancer.”
Mizzou Volleyball is gaining momentum after back-to-back SEC wins.
