Pau Cubarsi has shared his thoughts on Barcelona’s recent defeats and has urged the team to be more united when they return to action.
The defender also highlighted how the forwards must be the first line of defence for Hansi Flick’s side at a time when the German coach’s strategy has come under intense scrutiny once more.
“If it’s a great team, the first line of defense should be the forwards. Because a great team is about being united and pulling together, because that’s what wins titles,” he told
AS.
“In a team, we all have to push hard: those up front, those in the middle, and those below us. At Barça, we did it that way.”
Cubarsi also admitted the defeat to Sevilla was a painful one to take but is backing Flick to get the best out of his team going forwards.
“Losing always hurts, but when it’s by that much, it hurts even more. But we have to focus on the mistakes we make in these types of matches to learn from them, not repeat them, and thus prevent them from happening again,” he added.
“He’s a friendly coach who tries to help the player. But when he has to give it his all, he really pushes us. He knows how to push the player.”
Cubarsi is now with the Spain squad and will be aiming to feature in World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Bulgaria.
