Chelsea have given Liam Rosenior as soft of a landing as possible, as his first game in charge will be an FA Cup match against lower-league opposition.
Unfortunately for Liam, that lower league is only
the Championship and Charlton aren’t the worst team in it, and did recently take points off league-leaders (Frank Lampard’s) Coventry City. Also, we’re away. And also, Chelsea have barely managed to get past lower-league opposition in the League Cup, winning by just one goal against third division opponents Lincoln City and Cardiff City.
And also, we’re in rather poor form.
And also, we then have a League Cup semifinal against Arsenal coming up midweek, so Rosenior can’t just roll out what he may think our best starting lineup might be. Or can he?
Marc Cucurella will serve his one-match suspension for Wednesday’s red card against Fulham in this game, so he’s not available. Levi Colwill, Dário Essugo, and Roméo Lavia are injured (though Essugo is apparently back in partial training). Everyone else is at Rosenior’s disposal, including three Academy youngsters Reggie Walsh, Shim Mheuka, and Jesse Derry. And at your disposal for voting.
