Josip Stanišić’s future with Bayern Munich is an interesting question as the club continues to shape its squad for the 2026/27 season.
The Croatian defender has already shown that he can be a valuable and versatile option for Vincent Kompany. Stanišić can play as a right-back, left-back or in a more central defensive role, giving Bayern Munich flexibility whenever injuries, suspensions or tactical changes force adjustments.
However, versatility does not necessarily guarantee a starting role. Bayern
Munich have several players competing for defensive positions, and Stanišić has often found himself having to fight for consistent minutes. That raises the question of whether his long-term future should be as an important squad player or whether Bayern Munich should consider a move if another club comes forward with a significant offer.
There is also something to be said for keeping a player who understands the club, knows the demands of playing for Bayern Munich and has already demonstrated that he can contribute when called upon. Those qualities can be extremely valuable over the course of a long season.
