Barcelona are being linked with FC Twente youngster Ruud Nijstad once more as Alvaro Cortes departs the club and heads to Royal Antwerp.
There was talk of Barca interest in the youngster last season and it has re-emerged ahead of the final days of the transfer window.
According to Voetbal International, Barca have been in touch with FC Twente again to talk about a potential move and could make a late bid for the defender.
FC Twente coach John van den Brom has been asked about the rumors and isn’t too
happy with the speculation.
“You shouldn’t come to me for that,” he said before Twente’s game against Qarabag on Thursday.
“I read it too, but I can’t do much with it. I think it’s a shame that this comes out on match day. The boy is 18 years old and sometimes still feels a bit insecure. That is also very logical at that age.
“Reports like this don’t help, or of course they do, because he thinks: ‘I can go to Barcelona, that’s how good I am.”‘
Nijstad has spoken this summer about his future, saying before the start of the season that he wasn’t thinking about a move to Barca yet because he didn’t think he would get into the first team. However, he has also admitted that his “ultimate dream” is to play alongside Pau Cubarsi.
