Newcastle United’s summer overhaul may not be over yet, with a fresh report suggesting another member of the club’s once-dominant midfield is attracting interest from outside the Premier League.
Chronicle Live reported on Tuesday that multiple clubs have made enquiries about Joelinton after the Brazilian asked to leave Newcastle earlier this summer in pursuit of a move to Saudi Arabia.
The latest update follows previous reporting from the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope, who revealed Joelinton informed Newcastle
shortly after last season ended that he wanted to move to the Saudi Pro League. That explains Newcastle’s offering Joelinton to Saudi Arabia clubs mid-July.
More recently, ESPN Brasil’s Bruno Andrade added that interest is beginning to materialize, as quoted by Chronicle Live.
“I’ve heard Joelinton could also leave the Magpies,” Andrade said. “He has asked to move on this summer, and clubs from the Middle East have already made enquiries.”
So far, however, no official offers have arrived at Newcastle’s table for the 29-year-old despite those approaches from multiple sides.
The Guardian also recently reported Newcastle could be receptive to an offer from Saudi Arabia, with Joelinton believed to be interested in the move.
Joelinton remains under contract at Newcastle, and despite growing interest, no club has yet submitted an official bid. If he departs before the start of the season, he’d leave Tyneside having appeared in 263 games, scoring 35 goals and assisting on 23 more.
