Michael Olise is adding some national team dazzle to his exploits this season. After starring for Bayern Munich last season and hitting the ground running in this campaign, the 23-year-old is impressing in Didier Deschamps’ France side.
“He not only helps me, but the entire team,” France and Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé enthused ahead of Friday’s World Cup Qualifying match against Azerbaijan, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “He has a special profile that we don’t have in the team. He already showed
his qualities at Crystal Palace. He can score goals, he can keep the ball, he can have influence on the game. He performed against the biggest teams in England — he has become a top class attacker.
“We’re trying to make him feel comfortable and at home here so he can play for us like he does for his club. He’s also improved his French, which helps him a lot. His quality is obvious to everyone — at Bayern and with us. He plays more on the right at Bayern, but with us he has a bit more freedom centrally. He always wants to play forward and look for the strikers. It’s a pleasure for me to play alongside him. I hope he’ll continue this way. Having a player like Michael is definitely positive.”
Bayern Munich really appears to have unlocked something special with Olise’s addition.
