Barcelona have been handed the chance to extend their lead
at the top of the table in Spain to nine points after Real Madrid stumbled once again.Los Blancos were held to a 1-1 draw by Girona on Friday night in La Liga at the Santiago Bernabeu. Fede Valverde opened the scoring but Girona hit back through Thomas Lemar.
The result means Madrid are now six points behind Barcelona, but Hansi Flick’s side can make that nine with a win over Espanyol on Saturday.
The Barcelona boss was in optimistic mood about
his team’s attitude ahead of the match.
“I have very good feelings, the atmosphere and concentration were very good in training and I see the players very prepared and focused for tomorrow,” he told reporters.
Flick also admitted he could rotate his team as the game comes between two matches against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League
“We’ll see, of course we have to take care of the players and manage their minutes, as always,” he added.
“We have a lot of quality in this team and whoever plays tomorrow will do fantastic.”
