I decided as this week rolled we needed to start getting to the heart of matters as September 5th creeps ever nearer. And with other schools making deals for sponsored jersey patches – hell, even conferences! – I thought we should get right to what or who our fans would want to see on the front of our beloved Husker jerseys. And in 2027, not 2026, as Nebraska AD Troy Dannen informed us a short time ago.
People are
talking about it despite a decision still being a ways away, so I put it to y’all to state your preference. I didn’t list any banks like FNB or Pinnacle, since it will likely end up being something bland but profitable like a financial institution.
And rest assured that whatever is decided will still be better than the embarrassing Monster Energy patches whom the entire Big 12 will sporting at bargain basement prices.
And left to your own device, here’s what you said:
- And you said it very forcefully with Runza nabbing 60% of the vote. In retrospect, I probably should’ve tossed in the Fairbury Franks, but I’m betting you’d still prefer the seasoned ground beef and cabbage on the little patch over the players’ hearts.
- Mutual of Omaha was a distant 2nd at 24% and did the name Omaha or Wild Kingdom have anything to do with that?
- Tied for 3rd were Busch Light and Sandy’s Bar showing hunger trounced alcoholism – although I bet Oklahoma City would disagree. And there may be more than a few who have dire memories of that day in Sandy’s when they failed to consider consequences while chugging quarts of clear liquors disguised by OJ and a splash of Sprite.
- I tried to include every gameday’s midnight snack in the choices, but no-one wanted to see the rainbow-colored logo of Taco Bell on the scarlet and cream as “The Bell” was skunked with zero votes.
The Home Game Michigan State Wants
- Fine, we’re #2, but you know Sparty’s fans will be flocking when the former hazing perverts of Northwestern go to East Lansing to take on their former leader in the days of Camp Kenosha and other team-building exercises which sounded like Eyes Wide Shut: The All-Male College Days. 42% said this is their top home game.
- But right behind them are YOUR NEBRASKA CORNHUSKERS! 29% of Sparty’s legions are most looking to this match-up, since…well, we’re Nebraska, dammit!
- The others don’t matter – see you in few days with a new poll.
