Indiana football is set to take on Maryland at 3:30 p.m. ET at SECU Stadium in College Park, Maryland. The Hoosiers are coming off of a dominant showing against UCLA at home that created a few questions
heading into this matchup.
Linebacker Aiden Fisher left the game against the Bruins, remaining on the sideline with a knee brace. Isaiah Jones stepped up in his stead, helping lead the Hoosier defense to a strong showing, and Cignetti said at the time that Fisher was held out at least partially as a precaution until they learned more. On top of that, Brendan Franke sustained an injury during the opening kickoff and left the game.
Asked about Fisher’s status on Monday, Cignetti described him as “probable” to play against the Terrapins. The game’s availability report was released ahead of the matchup and featured the following details:
OUT:
- K Brendan Franke
- OL Drew Evans
OUT (For season):
- DL Kellan Wyatt
- DB Bryson Bonds
- RB Lee Beebe Jr.
Questionable:
- LB Aiden Fisher
Fisher being listed as “questionable” is definitely a good sign. Less good is Franke being listed as out and Drew Evans being included as out. Additionally, Kellan Wyatt has officially joined the players listed as out for the season, with Cignetti previously stating such an outcome was likely.
Jones could very well step up if Fisher isn’t 100% as he did against UCLA. Evans being out is tricky and could create some interesting situations along the offensive line. With Franke out, Indiana’s range on field goals shrinks.
