The blockbuster move of Spain’s World Cup winning captain Rodri to Barcelona is “on the right track” as the Catalans and Manchester City continue to negotiate the final terms of the agreement.
ESPN’s latest update says talks are ongoing and Barça are “increasingly confident” in finalizing a deal for the midfielder, but they don’t go as far as saying the deal is done just yet.
Other places, such as Mundo Deportivo, say an agreement has been reached for €55 million plus add-ons and the deal is at the final
stage, with only minor details needing to be sorted before an official announcement is made.
The Blaugrana’s intial offer of €45 million was far below City’s asking price of €80 million, so it’s natural that talks would extend over a few days until the two clubs could meet in the middle and reach a figure that satisfies both sides.
Barça want to close the deal as soon as possible so Rodri can arrive in Catalonia from his post-World Cup vacation along with the rest of Spain teammates, who are due to rejoin Hansi Flick’s squad on Wednesday.
