Bayern Munich may have cruised to a 6-1 victory over FC Magdeburg in the DFB-Pokal, but the club’s sporting director, Max Eberl, also had an important message regarding Joshua Kimmich.
The midfielder missed Bayern Munich’s Champions League clash against Arsenal and their Bundesliga victory over SC Freiburg following a family bereavement. Kimmich’s absence has been felt in the middle of the pitch, particularly with Aleksandar Pavlović also dealing with fitness issues recently.
Eberl made it clear that
Kimmich has the club’s full support and can take whatever time he needs before returning to action.
“If Jo feels that he wants to clear his head now – if we can call it that – then he is very welcome here any day. I believe and I hope it will happen soon,” Eberl said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
With Bayern preparing for Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund this Saturday, Kimmich’s potential return would be a significant boost. His leadership, intensity, and ability to dictate the tempo could prove crucial in one of the biggest fixtures of the Bundesliga season.
However, football understandably takes a back seat in situations like this. Bayern will want their vice-captain back when he is ready, and Eberl’s words make it clear that there is no pressure from the club to rush that process.
