Rapper Travis Scott played a key role in the main event of WrestleMania 41 last year when he helped heel John Cena defeat Cody Rhodes to win the WWE championship.
It was a godawful angle that came with rumors of Scott training to wrestle that summer at Money in the Bank. However, there was some kind of falling out between WWE and Scott, and the match never happened. Full-time WWE star Logan Paul later criticized outsider Scott for being “fickle with his training,” while Drew McIntyre called Travis
a “piece of shit.”
On the latest episode of his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T was asked about what went wrong with Scott’s training. Booker worked with him during the training process, so he should know the answer, right? Well, the Hall of Famer first tried to get away with a non-answer answer.
“It just didn’t work out. That’s all.”
Booker decided to say a few more words about Scott before changing topics. You see, it wasn’t a matter of Travis being unable to do the work in the ring. It was more about bad timing.
“I was working with him. But you see a lot of guys like a Logan Paul, like Bad Bunny, Speed, and they come in and they do a lot of things. Yeah, Lil Yachty. And a lot of times it’s for ’em. But it’s not for everybody.
And I think with Travis Scott, this guy got so much work, man. He’s doing this, he’s doing that, he’s doing this, and then to try to do this. I think that’s what it was more than anything. After working with him just a couple of times, he could actually perform the work. I saw it with my own eyes. But I just think [the] timing put into this, compared to every other project he had going on, as well as his music, I just don’t think the timing was right.”
Are you buying Booker T’s explanation about why Travis Scott’s WWE training didn’t work out, or is there more to the story that he’s not talking about? Let me know your reaction to T’s answer in the comments below, Cagesiders.
