What is the story about?

Long have there been rumors of the Philadelphia Eagles being interested in trading for Myles Garrett. They were heating up again on Monday morning while we’re all still waiting on the A.J. Brown trade to become official.

And now Garrett is coming to Philly … this season … in Week 4 … as a member of the Los Angeles Rams.

The Rams and Cleveland Browns have reportedly agreed to a trade that will send the reigning Defensive Player of the Year to LA.

The terms of the deal:

RAMS RECEIVE — Myles Garrett

BROWNS

RECEIVE — Jared Verse, 2027 first-round pick, “other draft pick compensation”

While Verse — a Philly native — has been a really good player for the Rams, there’s a difference between him and the guy who set a new NFL record for sacks in a single season last year with 23.

This trade is bad news for the Eagles not only because they’re missing out on Garrett (Philly still has a good edge rusher outlook but obviously not as good as it would be with Garrett in the fold) but also because the betting favorite to win the NFC just got stronger.

The Eagles’ 2026 roster is also about to get worse with Brown’s departure.

These developments don’t automatically disqualify the Eagles from championship contention. But the path to getting back to the Super Bowl certainly just got more challenging.
