The Virginia Tech Hokies are back in action for Week 2 of the James Franklin Era, as they host the Old Dominion Monarchs at Lane Stadium. This will be the eighth all-time meeting between the two Commonwealth schools, with the Hokies currently holding a slight 4-3 edge.
Of course, everyone remembers the last time these two teams met, almost one year ago to the day, on Sept. 13, 2025. The Monarchs shocked Virginia Tech, Lane Stadium, and all of Blacksburg by jumping out to a 31-0 lead. They’d eventually
win 45-26, and head coach Brent Pry was fired the next day.
The Hokies defeated VMI 73-3 last in Franklin’s debut. Meanwhile, ODU started the season 1-0 with a win over Michael Vick’s Norfolk State Spartans.
