The Chicago Bears crushed the Carolina Panthers 59-37 to open the season, and that offensive outburst certainly helped with some success on the props in week one. Last week, we went 2-1 on props. Caleb Williams went over on passing yards and D’Andre Swift went over on rushing yards. Unfortunately, we hung an L with Colston Loveland over on his receiving props. That was shocking.
This week, the Bears head back to Chicago and welcome in the Minnesota Vikings, and more notably, Brian Flores’ defense.
Will Flores be able to slow down Ben Johnson’s offense? How will this chess match play out? Here are the three props to play this week in the Bears- Vikings matchup. As always, odds are courtesy of FanDuel.
Colston Loveland OVER 46.5 Receiving Yards -114
Oh, you know we are going back to the well. After the world thought Loveland was going to have a monster game against the Panthers to open the season, Loveland ended up with a giant goose egg on only two targets. Do we really think Ben Johnson is going to have one of his favorite toys be nonexistent for two games in a row?
I think the Bears make an effort to get Loveland involved, and probably try to work it to him early in the game. I think he definitely goes over in this one, and we see him consistently more involved in the offense moving forward.
Justin Jefferson OVER 77.5 Receiving Yards -114
We usually only do Bears players, but sometimes you see something on the other side that’s just worth considering. We all love the Bears offense, but I think most of us can look at the Bears defense and understand that it has plenty of holes.
Jalen Coker had 138 yards receiving last week. Tetairoa McMillan had 75 yards as well. The Panthers’ top two receivers tallied 213 yards mostly against Tyrique Stevenson and Jaylon Johnson. How are those two possibly stopping Justin Jefferson? Whether it’s Carson Wentz or Kyler Murray, I don’t think it matters. I think Jefferson beats the Bears secondary for at least one, probably two explosive plays and tops 100 yards receiving for the game.
D’Andre Swift OVER 60.5 Rushing Yards -114
Brian Flores’ defenses always cause problems, especially in the passing game, but they do allow yards in the running game. Last year the Vikings ranked 21st in yards allowed on the ground, and while they didn’t give up much to the Green Bay Packers in week one, the Packers were without Josh Jacobs and largely ran a bunch of RB3s as starters.
Swift’s number last week was 63.5, and he smashed the over, so this week his number actually drops three yards, so that’s a wager I will happily come back to and place on Swift to have another strong game. I’m sure it won’t be quite as explosive as it was in week one, but I do think he can comfortably go over 60 yards and push somewhere around 80 to 90 yards on the ground, as the Bears’ offensive line has another strong performance opening holes for Swift.
