Borussia Dortmund head coach Niko Kovač caused a stir with his comments regarding Bayern Munich’s dominance over his team and the rest of the Bundesliga this season.
For Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany, it was a topic that he knows is being discussed, but also one he does not necessarily agree with. Kompany thinks every team is gunning for his squad.
“If we lose tomorrow, we’ll have given something away. From the opponent’s perspective, it [beating Bayern] feels like winning a title – it can
happen, you can always lose. But I don’t want to give anything away, that’s a huge motivation,” Kompany said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Sporting director Christoph Freund simply wants to keep the team focused on itself.
“We need to focus on ourselves; we’re in good form, playing good football, having a really good season. But we also know that no title has been won yet,” said Freund.
The Bavarians can side-step the topic with the best of them, but until someone mounts a serious charge at Bayern Munich, the discussion will be there. That, however, is not a Bayern Munich problem, but one for the rest of Germany to solve.
