Bayern won’t rule out Min-jae sale, but it’s very unlikely (@iMiaSanMia)
During the press conference ahead of Bayern Munich’s DFB -Pokal match vs. SV Wehen Wiesbaden, sporting director did not rule out a sale of center-back Kim Min-jae, but he did not think it would happen based on how the club values the defender.
“You can never 100% rule anything out in football, but that’s not our plan. We are very happy that Minjae is now fully fit again and we know how good he is and what qualities he has,” said Freund.
Head coach Vincent Kompany endorsed Min-jae staying with the club.
“We had the same story with Leon Goretzka last season, and he behaved 100% correctly, came back into the team, and was very important to us. No one can afford to take a step back. Min-jae trained very well and did very well when he came in on Friday,” Kompany noted.
The X-factor here is how receptive Min-jae is to being the third center-back on the roster behind Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah, while playing for a coach that does not like to rotate his center-backs. As of now, it seems like it is just too late for a move to happen, but Min-jae could be yet another player on the exit list for 2026.

Disgruntled Manchester United attacker Jadon Sancho could be toying with the idea of joining AS Roma:

Eberl talks Palhinha loan (FCBayern.com)
João Palhinha put in an awesome performance for Tottenham Hotspur against Manchester City last week and it seems like his loan could be what was best for everyone.
“João Palhinha unfortunately didn’t get the game time he hoped for at FC Bayern last season. We’ve found the best solution for all sides with Tottenham Hotspur. João can have a whole season at top European level there. We wish him all the best for the year ahead,” Eberl stated.

BVB commits to Kovač (Borussia Dortmund)
Former Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovač received a nice deal from Borussia Dortmund:
It’s weird, but Kovač will either whip Borussia Dortmund into shape or be gone by the end of the season. It does not feel like there is much room for a middle-ground.
BVB also announced the signing of Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea:
Hamann not on board with Woltemade move this summer (Goal)
Noted pundit Didi Hamann agreed with Bayern Munich’s stance on VfB Stuttgart attacker Nick Woltemade.
“Bayern’s problem is: Last year, many contracts were promised, like those for [Alphonso] Davies, [Jamal] Musiala, or [Joshua] Kimmich, which the supervisory board then didn’t approve. This kind of thing costs reputation! Bayern has communication problems; a lot of things could have been prevented if they had sat down and discussed beforehand how much money was allocated for what! And they agreed with the players, like with Wirtz and Woltemade,” Hamann told Sky. “But you have to inform the other club sometimes. The question for management is whether it’s worth a call to [Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon] Rolfes or [Stuttgart chairman Alexander] Wehrle. They found out all about it from the newspaper. All of this cost time and reputation, and ultimately money too. The next one became increasingly expensive.
“There will be movement if Bayern pays an additional €60 million. I wouldn’t pay it. He’s a good player, had a good year, but he wasn’t even registered for the Champions League. He only knows about busy weeks from TV! We’ll have to see how he handles the pressure. I do think he could play. But €60 million or more? This business model leads to ruin. For me, Bayern’s interest would be over now.”

Rabiot to Milan? (ESPN)
Adrien Rabiot could be headed to AC Milan:
AC Milan are looking to sign Marseille midfielder Adrien Rabiot after he was placed on the transfer list following a fight with a teammate, as reported by Calciomercato, which adds that USMNT midfielder Yunus Musah would be the player to make way. Atalanta like Musah but, the Rossoneri wouldn’t accept any offers under €30m. Rabiot has also been in touch with Internazionale and Juventus, but Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri wants to reunite with the 30-year-old.
Juve could miss on Kolo Muani (Tuttosport via ESPN)
Juventus could end up not getting Paris Saint-Germain attacker Randal Kolo Muani:
Concerns are beginning to arise about whether Juventus will be able to bring in striker Randal Kolo Muani on loan from Paris Saint-Germain again, as there is a disagreement about what the clause to make the deal permanent should be worth.
Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show: Bayern Munich 6-0 RB Leipzig (Bavarian Football Works)
Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig locked horns for what was anticipated as a clash of titans to raise the curtain for the forthcoming Bundesliga season, but what followed was a massacre of Biblical proportions. Bayern had looked shaky in their last few outings, and Leipzig had a lot to prove after some big changes in the team, which meant that both teams, while possessing some massive talents, had chips on their shoulders and something to strive towards.
Helping us dissect the corpse left in Bayern’s wake is Rayyan (Cyler), returning to the pod after a lengthy hiatus to perform some semblance of autopsy, although it seems this game was far more about the pure joy of watching what happened than picking apart the details of what actually did happen. In this edition, we feature:
- A run-down of the starting XI and shape of both teams.
- The series of events that led to the defining moments of the game, and patterns from before that re-emerged.
- Some final (giddy) thoughts of what this Bayern team could look like going forward.
- A lot, a lot, a lot, of uncontrollable giddy giggling at the mere thought of this match’s existence (sorry).
