Mikel Arteta was full of praise for his Arsenal side after they secured a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich, describing the encounter as one of the highest levels of football his team has played.
The Arsenal manager also highlighted just how difficult it is to compete at Bayern’s home ground, pointing to the German giants’ dominant record in Munich over the past three years. For Arteta, earning a result against a team that has consistently overwhelmed its opponents on home soil was a significant
achievement.
“Wow, what a game—that’s the level; it’s one of the highest levels we’ve played. I watched all the games they [Bayern] have played here in the last three years, and they batter everyone for many goals. So it’s remarkable what we’ve done. I really value and am really aware of what the boys have done tonight,” Arteta said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Arteta’s comments underline the respect Bayern Munich commands across Europe, even among their biggest rivals. While Bayern may be disappointed not to have held on for victory, Arsenal’s ability to fight back and secure a draw demonstrated the quality both sides possess.
