During this week’s (Aug. 24) episode of WWE Raw, a hype video aired late in the show featuring NXT newcomer Zilla Fatu, who is competing for the NXT championship on Sunday (Aug. 30) at the Heatwave PLE.
According to WrestleVotes Radio, there’s more to the story regarding that video than simply getting the word out on this weekend’s event that serves as WWE’s latest attempt to counterprogram AEW. Votes was told that the video was also meant to be a “soft introduction” to Fatu for WWE fans who don’t
keep up with NXT programming.
The internal expectation is that Zilla will be called up to the main roster “before long,” because WWE thinks linking Fatu with his family in The Bloodline is the best way to ensure his long-term success in the promotion. WWE’s goal is to begin getting fans of Raw and SmackDown familiar with Fatu now, rather than waiting until he is officially called up to the main roster.
Does that sound like a reasonable plan to you, Cagesiders? How much longer do you think it will be until the Nympho Baby leaves NXT and finds a new home in The Bloodline? Let me know in the comments below.
